Black spots caused by black lichen and algae on patios is a major problem which until now has been an extremely difficult problem to solve. The black spots are unsightly and can appear on new or old patios, pavers, block paving or brickwork regardless of their age. These black spots are caused by a variety of lichen which penetrate deep into the surface of the patio and are notoriously difficult to remove by most conventional cleaning methods. In fact it is so difficult to remove that a horticulturist commented that "after a nuclear explosion the only living things remaining would be cockroaches and black spot lichen". He may have been joking but it only emphasises the practical difficulties in destroying this particularly virulent strain of lichen.
Pressure washing alone is not the answer as this method of cleaning is rarely effective in removing black spots in fact depending on the type of patio stone, heavy duty pressure washing can actually damage the surface.
Fortunately our chemists have come up with the perfect solution by formulating the product Blaspore (Black Spot Remover). Now we can safely kill and remove the black spot lichens without the need for the endless back breaking scrubbing with wire brushes and scrapers. Blaspore is very easily applied to the patio by brushing or spraying and then simply left to work for an hour or so before being washed or hosed away with clean water.

Is Blaspore (Black Spot Remover) Easy To Use?
Blaspore is so easy to use, why pay for someone to clean your patio when you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost. Simply spray the ready to use solution onto the patio surface, leave for about 2 hours to allow the active ingredients in the product to penetrate down into the porous surface, then wash away with clean water. No scrubbing or brushing needed it's simply a matter of spray onto the patio then sit back and relax while Blaspore does all the hard work removing all those unsightly black spots from your patio. Easy to apply and outstanding results, Blaspore is one of those rare, magical products that starts to work immediately and you can see the cleaning power almost instantly before your eyes.
How much Blaspore Do I Need To Treat My Patio
This is an important question but the answer depends very much on the type of surface, the level of porosity and the degree of lichen contamination. As a rough guide we normally suggest that 5 litres will treat up to 25 sq.mtrs. approximately. We also find that although by far the easiest method of application is by sprayer, some customers find that brushing onto the surface with a large paint brush gives the most economical method of application.
Blaspore has a Sodium Hypochlorite base together with a blend of superior surfactants which make the formulation a particularly effective cleaner for most types of patio. We always advise users to test the product on a small area first before applying to the whole area. It is important to keep away from lawn edges and other plants and vegetation as the product will have a bleaching effect on contact. Never use together with acid based cleaners as contact with acid liberates toxic gases.
